1 Chapter: Psalm 69
1 Verse: Verse 20. Reproach has broken my heart and I am so sick and I looked for sympathy, but there was none, and for comforters, but I found none.
1 Prayer: Father, You know me best. You know me better than anyone. You are familiar with all my ways. Only You could know how perfect this verse is for me today. I don't know what else to say, so I will let George Fox say it for me: "It grieved me that I should have opened my mind to such a one. I saw they were all miserable comforters, and this increased my troubles upon me" (Journal, Ch. 1). You alone can speak to my condition, Lord. You are the Comforter, come to dwell with Your people Yourself. I need Your comfort, Father. I need You.

Psalm 68
1 Chapter: Psalm 68
1 Verse: Verse 19. Blessed be the Lord, who daily bears our burden, the God who is our salvation. Selah.
1 Prayer: I'm the one who feels blessed, Father. To know that You daily bear my burden, that You take upon Yourself the weight of my finite, sin-plagued, ignorant, willful, stubborn, hapless existence is almost beyond comprehension. It seems almost too good to be true. Yet, in its truth is our salvation -- that You are a lover of sinful rebels Who delights in even the smallest, weakest, most insignificant blundering motions we fitfully make in response to Your infinite and perfect and unfailing love. Father, You know the things burdening me today -- even better than I do. And You are infinitely better able to bear them than I am. Thank You for carrying me through them today. For that You truly deserve to be abundantly blessed and thanked and worshiped and praised and loved and trusted and obeyed . . .

Psalm 67
1 Chapter: Psalm 67
1 Verse: Verse 1. God be gracious to us and bless us, and cause His face to shine upon us-- Selah.
1 Prayer: Father, I would love to see Your face shining on me and my family, friends, church, city, country and world today. The light of Your countenance is pure blessing to us. And I'm thankful that You are more than gracious enough to direct Your illumination our way. Today, help me to walk in the light of Your love so others would see Your gracious blessing, Your shining face.

Psalm 66
1 Chapter: Psalm 66
1 Verse: Verse 13-14. I shall come into Your house with burnt offerings; I shall pay You my vows, which my lips uttered and my mouth spoke when I was in distress.
1 Prayer: How quickly I "forget" how truly desperate I am. I do not want to be reminded of how precarious my position is, or how utterly dependent I am on You. Yet the truth is I would be nowhere if not for Your love and grace. I have been in distress, and I have been delivered . . . over and over and over again. And each time You lead me into trial, You refine a bit more of my soul. But I don't want to remember how dark my soul can be. The words I speak in darkness, I want to ignore in the light. Father, help me to prove faithful to the test. Help me to keep the promises made to You in my need, so that I do not have to go back there to make them all over again.

Psalm 65
1 Chapter: Psalm 65
1 Verse: Verse 1. There will be silence before You, and praise in Zion, O God, and to You the vow will be performed.
1 Prayer: Thank You, Father, for the silence that surrounds You. I'm beset on all sides by a cacophonuous chorus of dissonant voices all speaking, shouting, screaming, whispering words of shame, doubt, blame, regret . . . and You silence them all. I'm inundated with a flood of words. . . and yet none of them speak to my condition. You alone have the words of life -- real life, undying life, eternal life, unending life, self-sustaining life, self-generating life. To whom else shall I go? I will seek You in Your silence, then when I find You there I will adorn that silence with Your praise. I will perform for You -- before Your rapt attention -- the vows and promises, the commitments and pledges that I have made to You. May You be pleased with what You see and hear of me today.

Psalm 64
1 Chapter: Psalm 64
1 Verse: Verse 1. Hear my voice, O God, in my complaint; preserve my life from dread of the enemy.
1 Prayer: Father, my life is endangered not only by the enemy, but also by the dread of him. How often have I let fear alone do its damage before the enemy has even shown his face? If you will protect me from the enemy himself, how much more from my imagined fears? Father, forgive me for conjuring up scenarios to dread, excuses to hide behind, and fears to flee from. The enemy is real, but the reason to fear is false. You will uphold and defend me. Deliver us from evil and from the dread of it.

Psalm 63
1 Chapter: Psalm 63
1 Verse: Verse 8. My soul clings to You; Your right hand upholds me.
1 Prayer: Father, I'm holding on to You for dear life. I'm sticking as close to You as I know how to. And You in turn carry me. You lift me up. You hold me close in Your arms -- in Your strong hand of love. Thank You for not letting go. Teach me more and more how to better embrace You.
