Job 34:10-12 & Job 42:1-6

1 Passage: Job 34:10-12 & Job 42:1-6

1 Verse: Verse 6. "Therefore I retract, and I repent in dust and ashes."

1 Prayer:
Thank You, Father, for the example of righteous Job. If he, a man so much greater and more faithful to You than I am, had to retract his false statements about You, how much more so must I. Please help me to cultivate and maintain a repentant heart, knowing that no matter how close we get, no matter how much I think I am growing in knowledge or understanding, that You are ever greater and beyond complete comprehension.

Job 42:7-10

1 Passage: Job 42:7-10

1 Verse: Verse 8. "Now therefore, take for yourselves seven bulls and seven rams, and go to My servant Job, and offer up a burnt offering for yourselves, and My servant Job will pray for you, for I will accept him so that I may not do with you according to your folly, because you have not spoken of Me what is right, as My servant Job has."

1 Prayer:
Father, thank You for accepting Jesus' sacrifice to atone for my sin. I have not spoken of you what is right, nor have I been righteous and faithful as Job was in the midst of his suffering. I have cursed You to Your face and kindled Your wrath. But I have also received Your grace. Thank You for not doing with me as my sins deserve. Thank You for allowing Jesus to receive the penalty that I have earned. Even today, Father, I beg You not to treat me according to my folly. Spare me from my sin and its consequences for the sake of Your name. Undo the wrong I have done and instead allow me to do right in Your name.

Father, please forgive me for insisting on my unhappiness in the face of the fact that You promise that the painful reproving is a work of Your love for my good.

Psalm 91:1-4

1 Passage: Psalm 91:1-4

1 Verse: Verse 1. He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.

1 Prayer:
Thank You, Father, for giving me Your protection, safety and security. I know that if I dwell in Your shelter, nothing can harm me because nothing can separate me from Your love for me in Christ. Help me to dwell in Your shelter. Help me to abide and not stray.

"Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it,
Prone to leave the God I love;
Here’s my heart, O take and seal it,
Seal it for Thy courts above."

(Robert Robinson, Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing)

Job 32:6-8

1 Passage: Job 32:6-8

1 Verse: Verse 8. "But it is a spirit in man, and the breath of the Almighty gives them understanding."

1 Prayer:
Thank You, Father, for the wisdom and understanding that comes from Your Spirit within us. Please help me to listen and learn from You so that, when I speak, my words may be seasoned with salt, appropriate for the moment, and useful to those who hear. Thank You for the opportunity You gave me to speak about You with Paolo last night. I would be grateful if by Your Spirit something I said encourages him to draw nearer to You.
