Proverbs 15:1-5

1 Passage: Proverbs 15:1-5

1 Verse:
Verse 4. A soothing tongue is a tree of life, but perversion in it crushes the spirit.

1 Prayer:
Father, please give me a soothing tongue. Help me speak gentle words that are calm, encouraging and uplifting. Forgive me for saying harsh and inappropriate things that crush the spirit and stir up anger. Help me to replace those words with speech that brings life and turns away wrath.

1 Verse: Verse 1. A gentle answer turns away wrath, But a harsh word stirs up anger.

1 Prayer: Dear Lord, It is often in confrontation that anger can take over and we can say certain things that we wouldn't normally say. I pray that in times of anger, I can take a breathe and be filled with your words so as to not stir up anymore fighting. Showing love for all no matter what the circumstance can destroy any evil. Thank you for always loving us even when we get angry.

Verse 5: A fool rejects his father's discipline,
But he who regards reproof is sensible.

Prayer: Lord, It is so easy for me to believe that I know better than eveyone else. Please humble me so that I can take reproof from those with greater knowlege and experience that I do. Let me see my faults as opportunities to grow in in you.

I thought verse 2 was really applicable to me. I think that the way we say things can be just as important as what we say.

Prayer: "God, I ask that you allow my words and actions be reflective of the grace you have given me. Amen"
